Mercian Showjumping, 2 May
The 2011 Mercian competitions kicked off with the show jumping run by Cropthorne & Evesham Vale RC. On Monday 2nd May we sent two 2'3" teams to Cleeve Prior to jump what turned out to be a
challenging course with lots of spooky fillers for the horses to have a good look at!
In Malvern Magic were, Tina Price on Buzz-B, Janet Schooling on Harlequin Danceur & stepping in at the last minute, Karen Withers on Megan.
In Malvern on a Mission were, Tina Price on her second horse True Faith, Danni Dimet in her first competition for the club, riding General Malvern & now regular team competitor Suzanne Partridge on Tilesford Rosina.
Malvern on a Mission did very well to be placed 4th & Tina Price was also placed 4th individually
on Buzz-B.
I would like to say a big well done & thank you to everyone who took part.

Area SJ and MHRC Summer Show Report
The Area Show Jumping Competition ran like clockwork with many thanks to Cindy Bunce and family for all their hard work. Also a big thank you to Freyer Brooks who worked single handed for most of the competition in the Novice ring.
The Mercian Team Showing Competition at the Summer Show on the Monday attracted more teams than ever thanks to Eve Powell. Taking into consideration the very wet conditions that Eve, Rita & Steph Woolley were working with an excellent competition.
Due to the wet weather conditions enties were down for the Open Show, however we all managed to keep smiling through the rain. Results from the show will be published later.
A big thank you to everyone who helped with the setting up, stewarding on both days, secretarial duties and for clearing up after such a very wet day. Most of us were rather damp to say the least.
Once again Many thanks to our loyal helpers.

Becky wins at Royal Windsor!
Many congratulations to Becky Daniel who won the Novice Topscore at Royal Windsor! What an amazing achievement, well done Becky! Full report from the Malvern Gazette below.
Qualifiers were held all over the country run by the British Riding Clubs. Becky a member of Malvern Hills Riding Club won the first and second rounds on her pony Foxy Lady The Third to have the chance to compete at the prestigious Royal Windsor Horse Show on Sunday 15th May 2011.
The top BRC riders from all across the UK then faced another 2 rounds at Royal Windsor to become the overall Champion.
Becky and her pony certainly held their nerve on the day and did a fantastic 1st round to go forward in the top six for the final championship class. The atmosphere was electric and after jumping an incredible round against the clock she won the championship.
The rug, clothing and gifts all provided by the sponsors Amtrust Equine Insurance were
wonderful, but the enormous smile on her face said it all!
Becky said "I had a fantastic day and am so proud of Foxy, it was definitely the best day of my show jumping life!"
She also wanted to give a special thanks to her trainer Brian Smith, also from Malvern, for all his guidance and support, along with family and friends who all came on the day to support her.

Junior Novice Area Showjumping, Cleeve Prior, 2 May 2011
Our junior team held the Malvern Hills RC name high at the Junior Novice Area Showjumping, held at Cleeve Prior on Monday 2 May. The event was hosted by Cropthorne and Evesham RC, with a total of 6 teams in it: MHRC, Frampton and 4 Cropthorne teams plus a few individuals.
The MHRC team consisted of Becky Daniel and Foxy Lady the Third, Sarah Daniel and Toby, Harriett Richards and Bovril and Natalie Cull and Drunken Sailor.
The MHRC team consisted of Becky Daniel and Foxy Lady the Third, Sarah Daniel and Toby, Harriett Richards and Bovril and Natalie Cull and Drunken Sailor.
There was some superb riding by all the juniors, plus Sarah Daniel had only been riding her sister Becky’s pony for a couple of weeks! After the first round we had 3 clears; after the second round we had 4 clears so we were through to the jump off (yippee). I don’t think Karen Daniels could watch but fair play to the kids they found a short cut that neither of the other 2 riding clubs (both Cropthorne) found in the jump off, which put Becky Daniels individually 1st, Harriett Richards individually 2nd and Natalie Cull individually 3rd and the team came a fantastic 1st place and qualified for the showjumping championships at Lincoln in September!
Well done to everyone, what a brilliant result.

Results from Junior Area Showjumping on 19 February
We had 4 girls join MHRC specifically to do the Area Showjumping competition held at Summerhouse on 19 February, and they certainly mean business with fantastic results from them all.
First to jump was Natalie Cull riding Drunken Sailor, then Harriet Richards on Bovril, then Becky Daniels and Foxy Lady, and Mollie Tellum on Supreme Cindy to complete the team.
After the first round we had 4 clears, we couldn't fault the girls and the ponies jumped brilliantly. Then onto the second round which was timed. Natalie went first with a fantastic round and went straight into the lead. Next up was Harriet, who did exactly the same with a slightly quicker time taking her into the lead! Becky and Foxy Lady unfortunatley rolled a pole, so then all eyes were on poor Mollie Tellum! But fair play to her, not only did she jump clear, she also got the fastest time, so after the 2 rounds we had individual placings of 1st, 2nd and 3rd!
There were also 2 other teams on a zero score so then all girls had to jump off. Natalie and Mollie were clear, but sadly Harriet and Becky rolled a pole each so we ended up finishing in 2nd place. This was an amazing result as that mean they have qualified for the Winter SJ Championships at Hartpury in April.
Lin was at the end of the phone for most of the competition but made it in time to see the action and Karen Daniels did a fantastic job as Chef d'Equipe.
A big well done to all the girls, and good luck at the championships. Full results can be found here
